Autoimmunity
What it is and what you can do about it
Did you know that over 50 millionĀ Americans haveĀ an Autoimmune Condition
Women are more susceptible than men and it can take upwards of 10 years to get a proper diagnosis.
Autoimmune is at
Epidemic Levels
AI is the second highest cause of chronic illness and top cause of morbidity in women in U.S.
- AI can affect any system in the body
- Symptoms vary widely among the conditions, and often get brushed aside as “aging” and/or “stress” making “diagnosis” difficult-AKA they don’t test for it and don’t understand FUNCTIONAL blood work
- Conventional medicine have very few answers and treats these complex disorders as “incurable, genetic” diseases requiring a lifetime of hormones, anti-inflammatory , and immunosuppressive drugs
- AI can be successfully and quantifiably put into remission when the underlying triggers are uncovered and removed, and the core systems of the body are restored to balance.
- A Functional Mind-Body Approach to AI can improve health and longevity. Having an autoimmune condition can be frustrating, especially when conventional medicine lacks the correct treatment for autoimmune disease and symptoms. If you are fed up by the conventional approach to your health and well-being, know that there is another way! You can treat autoimmune disease, and even reverse your condition!
What is Autoimmune?
All autoimmune conditions are essentially the same process occurring in the body:
- The inflamed immune system, under the strain of continual triggers mistakes healthy tissue as foreign and begins to destroy it
- The only difference between the various AI conditions is which organ is being attacked
Why does our body attack itself?
Your immune system loses the ability to distinguish healthy cells from foreign invaders AND the immune system must also be stimulated to ATTACK!
All AI diseases have these 3 components:
- Genetic Susceptibility
- Environmental triggers, infection, stress
- Diet and Lifestyle
Your Genes are NOT your Destiny
You have a gun that is your genetic susceptibility: pulling the trigger is the environment & lifestyle – It is not your genetic destiny
- The science of epigenetics reveals that our genes are not out destiny.
- Epigenetics informs us that if we give our body the proper ingredients and a positive, non toxic inner environment it can give us optimum health and the best expression of our unique genetic code!
Environmental Stressors, Diet, Lifestyle, Chronic Stress and Infection cause Inflammation within the body
ALL inflammation is an immune system response-the immune system is trying to complete the healing cycle but it cannot due to unresolved triggers.
- Continual insult to the immune system keeps the inflammation burning
- Anti-Inflammatories and immuno-suppressant drugs do not stop the Autoimmune attack
- The only way to stop the attack is to stop the continual insult to the body by pulling away the triggers.
NICE TO MEET YOU
I'mĀ Dr Misty
Ā
I have been in theĀ Health Care field for over 30 years, and in private practice since 1997.
I decided to attend Chiropractic School after conventional medicine was unable to help me with my under active thyroid or Hashimoto's Thyroiditis.
After Chiropractic school and the birth of my first child, I decided to continue my education in Naturopathy and eventually Functional Medicine.
Utilizing the holistic principles of Chiropractic, Functional Medicine, and Functional Bloodwork, I was able to turn my health around and put my autoimmune into remission using a Mind-Body Approach.
If you're sick of the medical run around...book an audit to get to the real cause of why your not feeling your best.

Inflammation, Immune Function and Autoimmune
Our Immune System is in a constant flux and influenced by both internal and external environmental stressors.
Short term stress is good and can save our lives.
However long term stress, leads to all chronic disease.
Our bodies cannot tell the difference between running from a saber toothed tiger, an emotional upset such as an argument with a spouse, or winning the lottery! It reacts the same.
Autoimmune happens when there is continual strain on the immune cells and then they attack anything and everything. The immune system is not programmed to attack healthy cells-but it will when triggered.
By addressing and treating the immune system, I have helped hundreds of people get better. I see people everyday who have been through it all. They’ve done tests with their primary doctor, have seen several specialists, had more tests etc. But it all comes back inconclusive. And they’re frustrated.
The current medical system is not set up to help those with autoimmune disease, instead they are treated as diseases of particular organs. For example, if you have diabetes or thyroid problems you are referred to an endocrinologist. If you experience digestive problems, celiac, ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s, you are referred to a gastroenterologist. If you have psoriasis or other skin conditions you are to see a dermatologist. If you have multiple autoimmune conditions you will have to see several of these specialists, who will more than likely prescribe different medications. Doesn’t make much sense, does it.
Conventional Doctor’s may tell you that there is no cure for autoimmune disease, which is true, but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing you can do to manage symptoms. I'm not talking about covering up symptoms with harsh medications which can suppress the immune system making things worse. Medications may help reduce symptoms temporarily but may cause unwanted side effects such as fatigue, weight gain, and depression.
Common underlying conditions that can contribute to autoimmune disease:
Chronic Emotional and cognitive Stress
Unhealthy Coping Patterns
Poor Nutrition: Frankenfoods, Sensitivities, Allergies, Deficiencies
GI Stress
Adrenal Stress, Exhaustion, Burnout
Hormonal Stress
Inflammatory and Infectious Stress
Toxic Stress
Losing Weight with AI
3 tips you can follow for losing weight with an autoimmune disease:
Grains and Autoimmune
Grains wreak havoc on the immune system and trigger symptoms of autoimmune.
Hormones and AI
Healthy hormone balance plays an important role in keeping the immune system strong.
